Hospitality Network
Shelter. Stability. A Path Forward for Families.
Helping families with children experiencing homelessness across Berks County regain independence through shelter, meals, and personalized case management.

Direct Support
What Is the Hospitality Network?
The Hospitality Network is a 90-day program that provides families experiencing homelessness with safe shelter, meals, and a comprehensive suite of support services. Unlike traditional shelters, we keep families together — no matter their composition — offering private, home-like accommodations and the dignity of staying together during a crisis.
Rooted in community and powered by partnerships, this program equips families with the tools and support they need to achieve long-term independence — while connecting volunteers and service providers in meaningful ways.

Who can stay in the Hospitality Network program?
Families with children who are experiencing homelessness and have lived in Berks County for at least 90 days may qualify. There must be at least one child in legal custody, and all adult participants must commit to a drug- and alcohol-free environment.
How long can families stay in the program?
The program is designed as a 90-day shelter and support system. The Bridge House allows for one family to stay up to six months. During that time, families work toward permanent housing and long-term independence
What services are provided to families?
Families receive private sleeping quarters, Monday meals prepared by our network of volunteers from local congregations, case management, workforce development, education support, and advocacy. Each home has laundry, kitchen, and shower facilities.
Are all types of families accepted?
Yes. Family Promise welcomes all family compositions — single parents, couples with children, multigenerational families, LGBTQ+ families — and keeps them together under one roof.
Do families need to pay to stay in the program?
No. There is no cost to families participating in the Hospitality Network. Services are funded through community donations and grants.
**Guests at the Bridge House do pay a client-contribution based on a sliding fee scale.
What happens after the 90 days?
The goal is for each family to transition into permanent housing. Case managers continue to provide support services to help maintain stability after leaving the program.
How do I apply or refer a family?
Call or visit the Family Promise Day Center at 325 N. 5th Street in Reading. No appointment is needed — just stop by during intake hours or call to speak with a staff member.

How It Works
Shelter & Basic Needs
Families are welcomed into a safe home setting, offering more than just a roof overhead. Volunteers provide weekly warm meals, supplemental groceries, and other basic needs.
Partner With a Case Manager
Each family receives case management to help navigate challenges, identify solutions, and build a customized plan for housing, employment, and self-sufficiency.
Work Toward Independence
Families receive guidance and resources to secure permanent housing, find employment, and access education — step by step, with ongoing support.

"The whole process didn't take much more than a week before I got the call that changed my life."
