What Is the U Turn Program?
The U Turn Program offers direct support and intensive case management for unaccompanied and homeless youth in Berks County. Operating Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2–5 PM, our Drop-In Center provides a welcoming space and essential services designed to help young people stabilize, grow, and build a future.
We focus on community, cooperation, and connection — helping youth work toward long-term educational, employment, and housing goals while creating a network of support and lasting relationships.

Qualifications
Are You Eligible?

Who can apply?
Individuals aged 17 to 24 who are currently homeless, unaccompanied or at-risk of homelessness can apply. Applicants must be committed to working towards educational or employment goals. If under 18, parental or guardian consent is required.
What are the goals?
The U Turn Program aims to help participants achieve sustainable independence. This includes focusing on educational attainment and securing employment. Our goal is to empower youth to build a brighter future.
Is school attendance required?
Yes, if applicable, participants must attend school. Education is a key component of achieving long-term success. We provide support to help you stay engaged and succeed.

You’ll be paired with a case manager who listens, explains your options, and helps create a personalized plan based on your goals.

Each year, we receive over 100 calls from school liaisons across Berks County on behalf of students in need. The U Turn Program exists to be the next step after that call is made.
