Youth Listening Sessions, Berks County: What We Heard

We are grateful to the Berks Coalition to End Homelessness (BCEH) for giving us the opportunity to support the youth listening sessions that Berks County young people joined. Our U-Turn program was proud to be part of those conversations.

We also have a new Board President, new faces on our team, and more good news to share from October.

What We Heard at Youth Listening Sessions in Berks County

“The Youth Listening Sessions brought young people together for thoughtful conversations about their experiences, the systems that affect youth homelessness, and opportunities to improve support for others in the future,” said Abby Canela of BCEH. “Many participants specifically recognized Family Promise as an organization that consistently showed up for them and provided support when they needed it.”

No one took photographs during the sessions, which protected participants’ anonymity and safety.

Chef David’s Pizza & More brought food for the youth during the sessions. Thank you, Chef David!

Welcoming Board President Brett Rottmann

Please join us in welcoming Brett Rottmann, our new Board President. Brett brings valuable financial knowledge and professional experience as Director of Financial Integration at Apis Services, Inc.

We are grateful for his thoughtful perspective, dedication, and time supporting Family Promise of Berks County and the families we serve. You can meet the rest of our Board of Directors and staff on our website.

Blessed Beginnings Helps New Homes Feel Welcoming

A huge thank-you to Blessed Beginnings for giving gift baskets filled with household essentials to families who completed our Hospitality Network program and found a place of their own. These thoughtful gifts help families feel at home as they begin their next chapter.

In October, our shelter homes were serving five families. Thank you for helping create welcoming homes.

Fresh Bagels From the “Bagel Man”

Robert “Bob” Eisenbrown, our “Bagel Man,” delivered fresh bagels from New York Bagelry to our office. His visit brought care, encouragement, and a meaningful moment of connection to our families and team.

We are grateful for Bob’s generosity and continued commitment to Family Promise. We also thank New York Bagelry for helping make this thoughtful gesture possible.

Meet Our Marketing Intern, Spencer Hahn

Spencer Hahn, a senior at Alvernia University studying Digital Media Marketing, is interning with us and helping manage our social media. He creates content and uploads it to our social media platforms to help strengthen our online presence.

In his free time, Spencer enjoys distance running as a member of Alvernia’s cross-country and track teams.
