Family Promise of Berks County has received a $20,000 grant from Clayton to help local families stay safely housed and avoid the trauma of homelessness.
The funding is part of Clayton’s $2 million national commitment to the Family Promise network, made possible through an extension of the longstanding partnership between the two organizations.
The grant supports A Future Begins at Home, a joint initiative launched in 2019 that focuses on keeping families in their homes and helping them quickly regain stability when crisis hits. Since its inception, the initiative has catalyzed more than $14 million in additional funding nationwide and served over 43,000 families.
“The financial support received by Clayton allows us to be innovative in the way we help the unsheltered in our community. We are deeply grateful for the support and tangible difference it makes in service delivery, resource acquisition, and direct impact to families with children,” said Jill Glose, M.A., Executive Director of Family Promise of Berks County.
The investment goes beyond dollars. Clayton has donated 20 homes to the Family Promise national network since 2019, with one of those homes coming to Family Promise of Berks County in summer 2026. These homes serve as transitional housing, allowing families to stay together while they receive case management and support services on the path to permanent housing.
Locally, the grant strengthens prevention work that intercepts families before they fall into homelessness. Across the country, A Future Begins at Home prevented more than 10,000 families and 18,000 children from experiencing homelessness last year, with more than 80 percent of participating families achieving long-term stable housing.
For families in Berks County facing housing insecurity, that combination of prevention services, case management, and transitional housing can be the difference between stability and displacement.
