Family Promise of Berks County Celebrates 20 Years of Service to Families and Young Adults Experiencing Housing Insecurity

Berks County, PA — Family Promise of Berks County is proud to celebrate 20 years of service to the Berks County community, marking two decades of compassionate support, housing stability, and hope for families, youth, and young adults experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.

Founded in 2006, Family Promise of Berks County has grown from a small community-based effort into a vital nonprofit organization serving hundreds of individuals each year through emergency shelter diversion, case management, homelessness prevention, and supportive housing programs. Over the past 20 years, the organization has partnered with faith communities, local businesses, volunteers, and donors to ensure that families facing crisis are met with dignity, respect, and meaningful support.

“Reaching 20 years is both a celebration and a reflection,” said Jill Skoutelas, Executive Director of Family Promise of Berks County. “It represents the resilience of the families we serve, the dedication of our staff, and the incredible commitment of our community partners who have walked alongside us every step of the way.”

Family Promise of Berks County works to address the root causes of homelessness by providing individualized case management, rental and utility assistance, food access, and programs specifically designed to support young adults and families at risk of entering shelter. The organization emphasizes prevention and stabilization, helping families remain safely housed whenever possible.

Throughout its history, Family Promise of Berks County has remained grounded in collaboration—working closely with local congregations, service providers, municipalities, and community members across Berks County to create sustainable solutions to housing insecurity.

To commemorate this milestone, Family Promise of Berks County will host a 20th Anniversary Breakfast Celebration in April 2026, bringing together supporters, partners, and community leaders to reflect on the organization’s impact and share its vision for the future.

“As housing challenges continue to grow, our mission is more important than ever,” Glose added. “This anniversary is not just about honoring the past—it’s about recommitting ourselves to ensuring that every family in Berks County has a safe place to call home.”
