Family Promise of Berks County is dedicated to assisting families and youth experiencing homelessness or economic uncertainty in achieving housing stability. The organization offers three primary programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of the community:
U-Turn Program
This initiative supports teens and young adults up to age 24 by providing advocacy, case management, shelter, permanent housing, and more. The focus is on education, employment, and housing stabilization.
The Drop-In Center operates on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, offering youth a place to shower, cook, do laundry, access computers, and connect with peers and dedicated staff. New initiatives include expanded case management hours, shelter for eligible transitional-aged youth, and permanent housing units that offer a one-year favorable lease and utility history, aiding in credit building.
Hospitality Network
This program partners with local communities and networks of volunteers to provide supportive services to homeless families and youth throughout Berks County. It emphasizes keeping families together and offers a community-based response to homelessness.
Rent & Utilities Assistance
Aimed at preventing homelessness, this program assists individuals and families facing eviction or utility shut-offs. Services include rental assistance, security deposits, utility support, landlord mediation, housing location, and transportation aid such as gas cards or bus passes.
By offering these programs, Family Promise of Berks County strives to create a community where every family has a home, a livelihood, and the opportunity to build a better future together.
